Taiwan LCD panel maker’s revenue soars across the board in March

Industry insiders say second-quarter sales are expected to remain strong as prices for 32-inch to 43-inch panels continue to rise slightly and declines in large panels are expected to slow.
In March 2019, GroupTron’s revenue surged to T$20.6 billion (US$667.87 million), an increase of 13.4% month-on-month, during which time, large-size panel shipments reached 10.12 million pieces, an increase of 21.9% month-on-month, and small and medium-sized panel shipments reached 22.26 million pieces, an increase of 29%. As for the first quarter of 2019, GroupTron Optoelectronics’ revenue reached NT$59.9 billion, down 17.1% Month-on-Month and 10.2% YoY.
At the same time, large-size panel shipments of 28.53 million pieces, down 14.9% month-on-month, small and medium-sized Miainan shipments of 60.35 million pieces, a decrease of 2.5%. AU Optoelectronics’ revenue in March reached T$243.9 billion, up 17.4% month-on-month and down 4.6% year-on-year.
Revenue sat out at T$66.7 billion at the beginning of the year, down 13.5% month-on-month and 10.4% year-on-year. Hanyu Color Crystal’s revenue in March reached Nt$1.21 billion, up 36.9% month-on-month and down 12.6% year-on-year.
Despite a 26% month-on-month decline in shipments of small and medium-sized panels to 23.81 million, while shipments of large-size and private-label panels fell 68.8% to 15,000, revenue continued to grow. Ling Ju technology, a small and medium-sized panel supplier, reported revenue of Nt$759 million in March, up 68.75 percent month-on-month and down 12.65 percent year-on-year. Revenue sq.e. between January and March was NT$1,935 million, down 8.75 percent month-on-month and 22.68 percent year-on-year.
